DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Atomic Maverick 105 CTI is a wide-bodied freeride ski that sits in the sweet spot for skiers who want real soft-snow capability without giving up too much on firmer days. It's a strong daily driver for skiers who live out West or anywhere powder is regularly on the menu.

Why we like it:

The 105 feels bigger than its waist number would suggest. The HRZN 3D tip and balanced rocker work together to make this ski surf and float like something wider, which means it punches above its weight on deep days.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert skiers in deeper-snow regions who want a wider daily driver with real off-trail capability. Great for Western skiers, freeride enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a one-ski quiver that leans soft-snow.

Highlights:

The HRZN 3D tip does a lot of work here, giving this ski better flotation and smoother deflection in variable snow than its waist width alone would suggest. The balanced rocker profile keeps plenty of effective edge for carving while delivering easy float in soft snow. CTI Powered construction layers carbon and titanal over Atomic's Power Woodcore, giving the ski the torsional stiffness it needs to hold an edge on firmer snow while staying lively and responsive. Dura Cap sidewalls and a World Cup Base Finish round out a premium build, and the factory tune comes set at 87 side and 1.0 base for solid out-of-the-box edge hold.

Things to consider:

The Maverick 105 CTI is a freeride-leaning ski, not a groomer specialist. It can carve, but if you spend most of your time on hard snow, the narrower options in the Maverick line will feel more at home.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis roughly true to length. Pick the size that matches your usual all-mountain length, or step up if you want more stability in big open terrain.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Knowing photographers were in line I was trying to do quick, poppy, turns and deep carving as quickly as possible, and the CTi delivered on both!
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
This feels like it could be an all around ski, but likely better as a second ski all around, not an all in one quiver. Anything soft or deep, it had enough weight to push, and did decent on hard pack but wouldn’t be my first choice on an icy day.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
Intermediate to advanced. The ski gets more fun the harder you push it.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
Fun as heck was the first thing I said to my ski companions. While this isn’t in Atomic's Backland family, I’d love to throw a pin binding on this for nosedive mornings and spring corn off the summit.
