2027 Head Discovery 82 Sport Skiswith PR 11 GW Bindings

Stowe, firm groomers.

This skied true to size and was just right for me.

This is a great carving ski; it’s hard to stand out against the Montero AW and a Kastle but this does just fine!

This is a great aggressive carving ski for firm groomers.

This is a great ski for former racers and expert skiers who are mostly interested in charging groomers.

She’s not very pretty.

Stowe - Gondola groomers, machine groomed surface.

This was a bit too long for me, I would have sized down.

My first impression was that it felt too long for me and perhaps I would have enjoyed it more on a shorter length. I had to work hard to keep the ski engaged, and it never quite felt intuitive or especially lively underfoot.

It seems like it’s intended to be an all-mountain ski, but I didn’t feel strongly connected to what it was supposed to do best. It may work better for someone who wants a longer, more stable ride in mixed resort terrain, but in my experience it took a lot of effort.

This ski may be better suited to a skier likes the feeling of really working the ski. For me, it didn’t feel especially accessible or easygoing.

This is the right ski for the right person (which wasn’t me).

Stowe, VT - Deep packed powder groomers.

Felt a little short, but worked great for what kind of ski it is.

Interesting ski, it's an easy going frontside carver that is easy to manipulate and flex. It doesn't have a ton of stability at speed, but that's fine because they are intended to turn a lot, so speed isn't necessary. There's a lot of energy in them too, so those learning to carve will be rewarded.

Packed powder groomers.

Intermediate to advanced.

Skied at Stowe on a firm groomer day.

This felt like an active length and worked great for the style of ski.

This 82 Sport really surprised me, especially when it came to short carves with dynamic rebound. While it doesn't have the all-mountain feel or capacity of the wider Discovery skis, it certainly has the best short turning potential.

This is a groomer ski first and foremost. If you want to be a bit adventurous it's fine, but I wouldn't say it's got "all-mountain" capabilities all that much.

This is more of an intermediate level ski but that doesn't mean an advanced skier won't have fun. It's stiffer and more responsive than I was expecting, and while it's not demanding, you do have to be ready for the pop at the end of the turn.

This will make a great option for first time ski buyers who want a good ski to help them progress.

Stowe, lovely packed powder groomers.

Skis true to size. Good length for me.

The Discovery 82 Sport is one of those skis that isn't going to receive high scores for our test criteria, but is a great product. It's designed to be an encouraging narrow all-mountain ski for a progressing skier. I think it's particularly good at helping someone progress their carving technique as the new technology in this ski truly does help you get the feel for carving. The more you push on it, the more you feel the ski bend and respond accordingly. There is a noticeable drop off in overall stability from Pro to Sport in the Discovery line, but that's why they're so good for those progressing skiers.

It's best on groomers, in my opinion, but Head did a good job with the shape of these skis as they're not going to be punishing if you do decide to go off trail.

It's such a great ski for an intermediate or even a lot of beginner skiers. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a first time skier, but as long as you've had at least a little experience on skis, transitioning to a Discovery 82 Sport wouldn't be a big ask.

It'll be interesting to see if these catch on. Undoubtedly a good product, but not all good products become popular! Time will tell.
